The AAAS S&T Policy Fellowships (STPF) are open to U.S. citizens who hold doctoral-level degrees in any of the following:

  • Medical and Health sciences.
  • Biological, Physical or Earth sciences.
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences.
  • Computational sciences and Mathematics.
  • Engineering disciplines (applicants with a MS in engineering and three years of professional experience also qualify).

STPF's featured fellow for this chat is Jenelle Walker. Dr. Walker's research background is in health equity/disparities, exercise testing and prescription, body composition assessment, and the relationships between stress and health. Her research involves healthy lifestyle promotion with integrated culturally competent programs focusing on spiritual, mental, and physical health. Dr. Walker was a co-principal investigator for the cardiovascular research sub-project of the Minority Men’s Health Initiative-Hampton University Regional Transdisciplinary Collaborative Center. She has served as co-chair of the research subcommittee of the Refugee Women’s Health Community Advisory Coalition, Refugee Women’s Health Clinic of the Maricopa Integrated Health System. She is active with global health for women in Burundi, Africa.
